Have you ever...
...tried to read the Bible but fell asleep?
...considered reading the Bible, but it was just too long?
...wanted to read the Bible, but just couldn’t face all those thee’s and thou’s?
...turned to the Bible with questions, and it didn’t seem to produce useful answers?
...gone to the Bible hoping for “the Greatest Story Ever Told” & came away thinking you had read better stories?
Then, give two hours of your life to God, and come to this course!

Many people who come to church have been told their whole lives that reading the Bible is important.
They have been told that anyone can do it and everyone should.
They understand the Bible to be a handbook for life with eternal significance.
And yet, in spite of the fact that they can read a 500 page novel without any problem, before they are ten pages into the Bible, they feel confused, frustrated, bored and they want to (and usually do) quit.
If this describes your experience, this class is for you! In two hours, we will look at commonly held expectations about the Bible and consider whether they are helpful or not. We will consider how the Bible conveys information and how that information works positively in our lives. We will address why some Bibles seem (and are) harder to read than others. And much more.

If we turn it into an event, people here love it. Why not do the same with Bible study?
"Walking Through the Bible - Genesis Through Deuteronomy," is an interactive Bible event where we literally walk throught the first five books of the Bible. Beginning with Genesis, we consider the nature of the world God created (good), how people used the freedom God gave them (poorly), and how God sets out to restore the relationship between humankind and God's self. We'll have a tempting snack, investigate the promises given to Abraham and Sarah, pull out a 40-foot by 30-foot map to see where they lived, shuck corn and build cities in Egypt, journey through the Red Sea, gather manna, build the ark of the covenant, camp in the wilderness, and more.
Please join us for this interactive experience of how God began the work that was completed in Jesus! You will become part of the drama as you experience the Bible!
We invite everyone planning to attend "Walking Through the Bible - Genesis Through Deuteronomy," to read the first five books of the Bible (or as much as they can) before attending. If you do this, the day is guaranteed to be filled with "aha!" moments. Even if you cannot do the reading in advance, this course will help participants understand this early and important part of our faith tradition more fully, and thereby understand and recognize God more fully!
Take the next step in the journey after Genesis through Deuteronomy. For this session we invite people to read Joshua though Nehemiah. Then come to "Walking the Bible - Joshua through Nehemiah" and we'll walk through it. Beginning with Joshua, we will conquer Jericho, settle in the promised land, celebrate the work of the judges, demand a king, have a kings and prophets banquet, go into exile, and return to the promised land, and more.
