Sunday School kickoff: “Friendship Fair”
The Sunday School year begins with Friendship Fair on the Sunday after Labor Day. Join us at 9:30 (between services) for games, face painting, jumpy house and other kid and family friendly activities. Sunday School registration will take place at the welcome table and teachers will be helping with the activities!
Sunday School is held from 9:20 to 10:25 am and is available for young people 3-years-old through 5th grade. Classes start the second Sunday after Labor Day (Friendship Fair is held on the first Sunday after Labor Day) and runs through the week before Memorial Day.
Periodically throughout the year, the Sunday School holds a “Service Project” day, where all students come together to undertake a project. Projects have included packing and taking food to the food pantry, creating holiday cookie jars for needy families, making blankets, and assembling candles and holders for Christmas Eve worship.
Students 3-years-old through 1st grade compose our “Cherub Choir.” Students in 2nd through 5th grade are encouraged to take part in Youth Choir. Both choirs rehearse during Sunday School and sing during our Sunday 10:30 am Jubilee service several times throughout the year.
In December, all students in our Sunday School program present a Christmas program. This typcially is held two weekends prior to Chrismas Eve.
All third graders enrolled in Sunday School are presented with Bibles in early October during our Sunday 10:30 am Jubilee service.
First Communion training is incorporated into the 5th grade year of Sunday School.
Church Camp Scholarships
Scholarship applications for summer 2016 are due: May 1, 2016
Trinity Lutheran Church has a history of supporting our young people who attend a church camp. Again this year, we encourage our youth to strengthen their faith by attending a Christian based summer camp. To assist with the costs associated with church camp, Trinity offers a scholarship of $150 per child (dependent on funds raised through the Easter Breakfast). Funding for this scholarship comes from the proceeds of our Annual Easter Breakfast, and applicants are required to volunteer at the breakfast. Additional information and applications can be found on the tables in the Gathering Space or the links above. Questions? Please contact Cate.
