Friends
Thanks for taking part in today’s “High School Connect” devotion on friendship!
They say that a friend is someone who knows everything about you and likes you anyway. A good friend is more valuable than gold. Friendship is one of those things that everyone needs. But what is friendship?
Friendship is a relationship that involves care, honesty, respect, understanding and sharing. Friendship tends to develop as people participate in common activities and to have common values. But what happens when times are tough? What happens when there is distance? What about when one friend falls short? Patience and forgiveness are also valuable qualities in a friend. A friend is someone who seeks good for you and is happy when you are well.
As we consider what it means to be a friend, and to have a friend, let’s look at a Bible passage and some Bible verses to see what the Bible has to say about friendship.
For your entertainment and spiritual growth, below there are links to two Kahoot! games. One Kahoot! is based on a Bible passage about Naomi and Ruth, who were not only mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, but were also close friends. The other Kahoot! is based on a variety of Bible verses about God and friendship.
The first Kahoot! is based on Ruth 1:1-22 If you read the passage before playing the Kahoot!…you may do better! (Remember as you read that in the society of their day, Naomi and anyone who was female, could not hold a job outside the home. Their security and livelihood came from their relationships with other people and especially with male relatives. To lose or sacrifice these relationships was a life-altering change.)
Verses found in the second Kahoot! are below. Read them in advance or take your best guess!
